Buy the truth and sell it not. Prov. 23:23
Am I Good Enough To Go To Heaven?

If you were to randomly ask 100 people if they thought they were going to heaven, 100 people would say yes. What is their main reason for thinking so? Most will answer something like this: “Because I am a good person”, or “I have a good heart.” Some might say, “I haven’t killed anyone or done anything really bad, so I will go to heaven.” Most of the world believes that only the really bad people, murderers and the like – will go to hell.

Are these people correct? The only way to know the answer to that is to go to God’s Word and see what HE says about it (since He is the one who made us, and it is the Word that will judge us in the end when Jesus comes again.)

Colossians 2:13 (NKJV)
13 And you, being dead in your trespasses ...

Our sins make us spiritually DEAD.

Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
23 For the wages of sin is death...

Hebrews 9:22 (NKJV)
22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.

Leviticus 22:21 (NKJV)
21 And whoever offers a sacrifice of a peace offering to the Lord, to fulfill his vow, or a freewill offering from the cattle or the sheep, it must be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no defect in it.

Deuteronomy 17:1 (NKJV)
1 "You shall not sacrifice to the Lord your God a bull or sheep which has any blemish or defect, for that is an abomination to the Lord your God.

Someone has to pay the price for sin.

Someone must pay for it with his life.

Someone must shed their blood.

A sacrifice must be spotless.

Romans 3:10 (NKJV)
10 As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;

Romans 3:12 (NKJV)
12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."

1 John 1:8 (NKJV)
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Psalm 14:3 (NKJV)
3 They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.

Isaiah 64:6 (NKJV)
6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.

We don’t meet the qualifications.

There is not one of us who is spotless.

By ourselves, we are doomed.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)
21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

1 Corinthians 15:3 (NKJV)
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

1 Thessalonians 5:10 (NKJV)
10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

1 Peter 1:19 (NKJV)
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

1 Peter 3:18 (NKJV)
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

God sent His own Son, the sinless Jesus, to pay that price for all men.

Jesus was that perfect sacrifice.

Christ is the JUST. We are the UNJUST.

John 14:6 (NKJV)
6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Acts 4:12 (NKJV)
12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Jesus is the only way.

It is only through Him that we may be saved from our sins.

This is a pretty narrow path to salvation then, isn't it? The world thinks there are MANY roads that lead to heaven. But look what God says:

Matthew 7:13 (NKJV)
13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.

Romans 3:4 (NKJV)
4 ... Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.

If man can save himself, if there is some other way to heaven, then answer this:

"What did Jesus die for then?"

There would be no reason for Jesus to die the way He did. There would have been no reason for Him to leave His home in heaven. His death would have no meaning if we could save our own selves.

John 3:16 (NKJV)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Acts 17:30-31 (NKJV)
30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,
31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."

1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV)
24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.

Jesus paid it all.

Does that mean that just because Jesus died on the cross that everyone can now get a pass to heaven? Of course not, and no one will agree with that - everyone can think of some who they believe will not go to heaven. But, some may ask, "didn't he die for all men?" Well, yes he did, but not all men will accept that gift.

How do we die to sin?”

Colossians 2:12 (NKJV)
12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

How are we "buried with Him?"

Jesus has personally paid the price for our sins, so that we can be made righteous before God. When a person is made righteous, by obeying God's plan to save man, God will then save him.

Hebrews 5:9 (NKJV)
9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
