Buy the truth and sell it not. Prov. 23:23

Who Shall We Believe?

When it comes to all the preaching going on in the world today, each one seeming to promote something different, how can we know what we are to believe? Do we just throw in the towel and go with our own "feelings?"

Certainly not! We are commanded to "test all things." 1 John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

We are warned in God's Word that we must not be lazy when it comes to knowledge of God. 2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Matthew 15:14  Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Luke 6:39  And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?

There is only one Truth with which to measure with - the holy Word of God.

John 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Psalms 118:8  It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

Even in Paul's day, those who put his teaching to the test were commended for this action, being called "more noble than those in Thessalonica".
Acts 17:10-11 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
